Stepan Company is a global manufacturer specialized in intermediate chemicals used in consumer products and industrial applications. Stepan is the market leader around the world in the manufacture of aromatic polyester polyols (Stepanpol) ® , primarily used in the production of rigid polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foam.
Job Description
Key responsibilities:
- Explore, develop or improve new or existing processes by offering new solutions
- Perform syntheses of polyols required for research, development, or quality control of processes and products
- Support manufacturing operations with new product scale-up, new processes, optimizing existing processes, process and quality issues
- Prepare recommendations to improve process efficiencies in the plant (e.g. reduce batch cycle time, costs, ensure environmental and health and safety compliance) and supports implementation of approved ideas – locally, and in other Stepan locations.
- Provide input for new product introduction on safety, feasibility, process definition and quality
- Support R&D with polyol syntheses and process development for new and existing products
- Cooperation on a regular basis with factory located in Brzeg Dolny
Education
Qualifications
Qualifications and experience:
Knowledge of chemistry, normally acquired through higher professionally recognized academic and industry accepted qualifications (B.Sc., M. Sc.)
At least 2 years on similar position
Experience of organic synthesis and chemical engineering
Substantial experience of working in a laboratory environment (R&D laboratory would be advantage)
Fluent English (spoken and written)
Proficient in using Microsoft Office (chemical databases and other software, e.g. ASPEN would be advantage)
Good communication and organization skills
